Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid based soft tissue fillers injections which are used to add volume/restore volume/add definition/balance to the lips.
How does the treatment work?
Using a needle, small quantities of the filler are injected into the dermal layer of the lip.
How soon will I see the effects and how long do the effects last?
The initial effects of the treatment are seen straight away but it can take up to 14 days to see the full effect.
The effects of the standard treatment usually lasts between 6 and 8 months, this will vary from person to person.
Is it safe and does it hurt?
Millions of people worldwide have had these injections and the safety of the product is well established.
Anaesthetic cream is applied to the lips to aid comfort during the procedure. The filler also contains local anaesthetic. The injections may cause a minor stinging, redness, itching or discomfort. There are other possible, but rare, side-effects that would be discussed at consultation. Please advise if you are on any medication as a few are a contra-indication to having fillers. Treatment is also not recommended in pregnant or breast-feeding women.
What can I expect after the treatment?
For 12 hours after treatment, Laura Arena advises that you avoid extreme facial expressions, alcohol consumption and applying make up. Please avoid extreme sun exposure, UV light, freezing temperatures and saunas for 2 weeks after treatment. It is important to avoid touching the injected area unless advised otherwise.
Laura Arena always offers patients a follow-up appointment 2 – 3 weeks after their treatment to ensure they have the best result possible; any additional product needed at this appointment incurs an additional cost.
